The walnut wood handle on the N°09 is full of character and generously-sized for excellent grip, while the 9cm blade and 2.2mm thickness deliver excellent cutting quality and ease of use. The blade is made from 12C27M stainless steel which requires little upkeep and ensures unwavering quality over time.

We use Sandvik 12C27 modified stainless steel. It is anti-corrosive thanks to the addition of chrome and requires no special maintenance. Its carbon content of at least 0.40% gives excellent cutting edge.

Opinel #9 is a great knife, made even greater by this Walnut edition. Weight is only 48g (12g lighter than my 'regular' beechwood version) and I find the walnut swells less when wet.
