Great for honing blade edges that already have a definite angle. I'd made some knifes and had hoped to set an edge angle to them. The worksharp would do it eventually but it would take a few days. So I had to grind the edge to sharpish and then hone it using the worksharp which got it to be a very keen edge. I would still recommend this for knife sharpening just have to be patient and the knife must be at the most dull to achieve a quick dull to sharp result.
