Njord Alvaldi Cutlery Set Forged Universal Knife With Awl
The Njord Alvaldi almighty jotnar giver of gold.
Medieval cutlery set consisting of a universal knife and an eating awl, based on historical findings. The entire set is made of hand-forged carbon steel.
Size:
- Blade: 20cm / 77g
- Awl: 17.5cm / 67g
Cutlery in the Middle Ages was not the set we are used to today. The knife was larger and sharper so that it could not only be used to cut food on your own plate but also to cut meat, for example. A spoon or an eating awl was used to skewer the cut food and bring it to the mouth. A fork, on the other hand, was two-pronged and was mainly used to "scoop" and to keep meat or fish in place while it was being cut.
Comes with a handmade brown leather sheath with belt cord.
The inspiration for the design of this traditional medieval cutlery originates from the time of the Vikings. Cutlery was personal and carried with you at all times. After all, you don't want to be without cutlery once the food has been served.
