I love Maxpedition - it's kit that is going to last a life time. I am a particularly fond of the Neat Freak. The Neat Freak keeps all my essentials together and is great in a main base camp or in a vehicle.

I find it a great advantage of having a small folding backpack in a large fixed camp. I can leave the main base camp carrying a few items that I will need for the day, leaving others to carry on the daily camp routines of cooking, cleaning, firewood processing, collecting water etc.

Water Purification with the Aquapure Traveller On a wonderful frosty morning I ventured up Wernside to stretch mylegs after a belly-busting Christmas. Asusual, I had my Aquapure Traveller to hand to collect fresh mountain streamwater as and when I wanted it.

Winter Camp
In early February, the majority of people are hunkering down with the on-set of winter - staying at home around the fire, looking out at the gloomy sky and wanting spring to come as soon as possible. February for me is the time to camp - there is more light in the day, snowdrops are in bloom and the odd song bird starts to call on those few and far between settled sunny days.

Well here we are in another New Year. 2012 I am sure you will agree has been slightly moist to say the least. The Mallard have moved in full time on what looks like an inland sea opposite the house. I spotted the Moor Hen with nest building material in her beak already, I think she is adding an extension to her nest with a nice covered landing stage with handrail .

Holy baloney, already into August, must find those crampons and
dust them off, have i got enough firewood for the winter, re-proof my
wet proof jacket and trousers.
